Turbine Meters

The liquid turbine meter has been the traditional method of metering for many decades. Turbine meters through their lifetime maintain their reliability, whilst also maintaining a high degree of accuracy when proven at regular intervals using a calibrated proving system. Helical type turbine meters can be used for higher viscosity oils and special bearings allow the meter to be used with condensates of very low lubrication properties.

we supply turbine meters for use in refineries and petrochemical plants and because they are easy to calibrate in situ they are also used as master meters for liquid ultrasonic metering systems.

Positive Displacement Meters

The Positive Displacement meter, like the turbine meter has been the traditional method of metering for the last six decades.

Positive Displacement meters provide a high level accuracy and can be used to meter oil with high viscosity. Their size, weight and vulnerability to internal damage, makes them unsuitable for offshore installations. They are a better choice for onshore terminals and industrial plants and are very frequently the preferred method of measurement for Tanker loading and unloading operations.

Liquid Ultrasonic Flowmeter

Liquid ultrasonic metering systems provide a space and weight saving solution and are therefore a good choice for Floating Production Storage and Offloading Vessels (FPSOs) and offshore platforms. However this type of flow metering technique is now being used extensively at onshore Loading/Unloading Terminals, Pipelines and Petrochemical plants.       Liquid Ultrasonic Flowmeters

Coriolis Meters

We apply Coriolis metering technology where operating conditions are extreme and eliminate the use of turbine meters or positive displacement meters. Coriolis meters are suitable for hydrocarbon liquids at low temperatures (cryogenic), high temperatures, high viscosity and low lubricity. They are a good choice for gas Processing Facilities, Refineries and Petrochemical Plants. 

Coriolis metering systems offer size and weight saving and do not require filtration of product but can only meter at low flowrates.

Prover Systems

A prover system is required with each fiscal metering system to calibrate and prove the accuracy of the flow meters supplied. At KSM we offer a complete range of provers to compliment the selected metering technique, liquid properties, ergonomics and project requirements. Provers can be integrated into the metering package or mounted on a separate skid.

Loading and Unloading Systems

The loading and unloading of fuels is a regular operation throughout the world and one which is exposed to the dangers of spillage and fire whilst operating under short loading and unloading times. Loading and Unloading systems have to withstand conditions of irregular operating times and quick shut down in case of emergencies resulting from high pressure surges or spillage of product.
The measurement technique used is the conventional positive displacement meter and ancillary equipment with custom designed loading and unloading arms. A variable speed drive pump is employed in the case of the unloading systems to ensure complete unloading of product and avoid loss of accuracy due to entrained air.
KSM can provide a complete integrated package incorporating metering equipment, preset controller and process control that meets the demands of maximum accuracy, high level shut off and high operation efficiency.

Sampling and Analysis Systems

 

We recognize that transfer of hydrocarbons involves multi-million dollar transactions and therefore maintaining accuracy of measurement to ensure fiscal accountability is of paramount importance. Accurate measurement of hydrocarbons is dependent on the accuracy of the flowmeter itself but also the quality and properties of the product. Density, water content, viscosity and composition are properties which are taken into consideration in calculating the value of the product and the selection of materials and metering techniques. This highlights the necessity of accurate sampling and analysis systems. The design and manufacture of Sampling and Analysis systems is governed by national and international standards that address proven techniques for the collection of representative product samples.
We design and supply this ancillary equipment as part of the integrated metering system.


Gas Sampling and Analysis Systems comprise of:

Gas conditioning equipment including sample probe, filtration and pressure reduction while maintaining the sample temperature.
The gas analysis instruments, such as, chromatographs, hydrocarbon dew point meters, water in gas monitors, relative density meters and Hydrogen Sulphite analyzers.
Fully equipped temperature controlled and air conditioned or freely ventilated analyzer houses where the gas conditioning and analysis equipment is installed.

Metering Control Systems

Metering Systems are supplied complete with metering control systems to meet the requirements of the project specification, local regulations and national and international standards. Metering control systems comprising flow computers, supervisory computer, PLC where applicable and auxiliary control equipment are integrated into a custom designed metering control panel.
